Advanced Course Placement Letters

On Monday, June 17th, Wall Intermediate School mailed letters to the parents of the children who have met the criteria to be placed in one or more advanced courses during the 2013 – 2014 school year. We ask that you carefully review your mail. If you are not in receipt of a letter and your child did not meet the criteria, you may request your child’s placement records. To do so, please contact the Wall Intermediate School guidance secretaries at 732-556-2534. They will direct your call to the appropriate person who can review your child’s information. Wall Alliance Survey

The Wall Alliance for the Prevention of Drug and Alcohol Abuse is trying collecting data for their upcoming needs assessment and logic models that will be due to the State for upcoming funding. They are asking for parent and community input via a survey. Please visit the link at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DHQ33R5 to participate. RE:Field Day Cancelled

Unfortunately Mother Nature has not cooperated with us this spring, and once again due to tomorrow’s local weather forecast and wet field conditions, our scheduled field day activities will be postponed until Wednesday, June 19th. We will be following the regular school schedule for Friday, June 14th, with a 3:20 PM dismissal. The school lunch for this Friday will be Pizza served with a fruit cup.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this change. The new rain date for field day will be Monday, June 24th. I look forward to having another successful field day. Have a great weekend!

EXAM POLICY

Student absence

In case of illness or other emergency, a student will be considered excused from an exam only if a parent contacts the school the same day as the scheduled exam and provides acceptable documentation for a valid absence. The student must then make arrangements with the teacher to make up the exam. In all other situations, the student shall receive a “0” for a missed exam.

All students are to remain in their exam room until the scheduled exam time is over. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE PERMITTED.

FINAL EXAM EXEMPTIONS FOR SENIORS

A Senior student who completes a course with an average of 92 or higher, as determined by averaging the Semester 1 average with the average of the third and fourth marking period grades and with the stipulation that no marking period average be lower than 88; will be exempt from taking the final exam.

AP COURSES AND FINAL EXAMS

A student enrolled in an AP course will have an opportunity to take the AP exam in that particular subject in May 2013. AP students (both juniors and seniors) will be exempt from the final exam if they have a final average of 88 or higher with no marking period grade lower than an 85 and also take the AP exam in that particular subject

Transportation

Busses will pick students up at the regularly scheduled morning times and depart school at 11:45 am.

Vocational Classes

Vocational students are required to be present for their scheduled exams and will be excused from vocational school on those days only. On days when students have no exams, they must attend their vocational program; transportation will be provided. Vocational students should check with their vocational bus drivers and inform them of their schedule. * Final Report Cards will be available in the Genesis Parent Portal on Thursday, June 27^th at 3:00 pm.

Relay for Life

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Wall Township is coming up THIS FRIDAY (6/14) at Wall High School, starting at 5 pm. There are already over 300 participants and $30,000 raised. 3rd Grade Field Trip – POSTPONED

Due to the inclement weather, today’s 3rd grade field trip to Allaire State Park & Village has been postponed. Third grade students will now be going on the field trip on Wednesday, June 12th. Please be sure that your child has a bagged lunch for Wednesday.

WHS Stars Shine In Hard Fought Group III Championship Loss

Wall High School’s outstanding girls softball season came to an end today with a hard fought, 4-2 loss to highly ranked Indian Hills. In the loss, Sydney Canessa accomplished the rare high school achievement of registering her 200th career hit . The Fordham bound senior, was 3 for 4 and got the milestone hit in the 5th inning. Dani Petrone also belted her Shore Conference leading 16th home run of the season. Dani, a junior, who has already made a verbal commitment to play softball for Rutgers, is already th Shore Conference Career leader in homers. The team was both B-North and Central Jersey Group III Champions this season. Congratulations to the entire team for a an exciting and memorable season!

Coming Soon – Summer Assignments Website

It’s difficult to believe that the 2012-13 school year is coming to a close in just a few sort weeks. That being said, we are planning to have our new ”Summer Assignments” website available to our K-8 parents the week of June 17.

This year, summer assignments for grades K-5, will be optional. We have been working very hard to compile a list of quality websites, activities, and suggested readings that our students and parents will be able to select from in order to sustain learning throughout the summer months.

Students in grades 6-8, with the exception of students enrolled in advanced courses, will also have optional summer assignments. Please note, students will be notified in the event that a summer assignment is required for a specific course. Required assignments will be posted directly on a school’s website.

Important note: Wall High School students will still have required summer assignments. Information pertaining to 9-12 required assignments can be found here .

Date and Time Change for Championship Softball Game

The NJSIAA has made a change to both the date and time of the Group III Softball Championship game. It will be played on Sunday, June 9th, at 3:00pm (Toms River North High School). Any Wall High School student wishing to take the “fan bus” would need to complete the attached form and be at the High School, outside the North Gym for a 2pm departure on Sunday.
